About someone and freedom.
I know that the rules must be followed, and that I must write about a topic seen in class, however I am not going to do so. In this comment I will not talk about any topic, on the contrary I will talk about the person who made us know those topics and who made us study those ones.
There were many topics that I saw in class, and there were many ways of doing the activities, but there was always something that caught my attention and it was the freedom that one had to teach and carry out the activities, making me realize how important freedom is within the classroom. Well, students should be allowed to use those skills of their own and turn them into something great, like Slam Poetry was. An exercise that seemed complicated but in the end it was easy, and this was because everyone had the freedom to do what they wanted and put it in a video, some wrote about his death, others about love, and some more about his desire to live another life, and you will wonder what does this have to do with it? Well, I answer that everything.
In the classroom, freedom is the epicenter of the teaching-learning process and it is something we always had in class with our teacher Dr. B. He allowed us to be who we are and did not limit our creativity for deliveries, on the contrary he gave us the tools to make each class a new and unique experience, without limits or pressures, that’s why this comment is for him.
Anyone can teach, but not just any teacher can motivate their students to move on and make their profession the best it has ever been in the world. Not just any teacher makes us go to the bottom of our minds to find an answer, and Dr. B. did, he let me know how I want to educate my future students.
Anyone can teach us about literacy, Lesson planning, and communicative competences, but no one could do it the way Dr. B. did, because he opened a new world of seeing all this in relation to language.
So far, what does Dr. B. have to do with the subject of this (freedom in the classroom), he has all the relationship that has existed and for having, because I have felt that he is the only one who did not limit resources to teach us, he always had a new way of doing it and funny things that made the class much better, and he always had an open mind to what we said and let us do basically what we wanted, so that we could explore our creativity when fulfilling our homework as students, and that for me that is freedom, a freedom that allowed me to change the way I see the teaching-learning process.
I know that maybe I’ll get a bad grade for not complying with what was asked of us, but I don’t care. I think that what makes a class good are not the subjects, but the teacher. And that’s the topic I wanted to talk about here, how a teacher can use freedom to make us explore our capabilities. and how Dr. B. made me see the importance of giving freedom to my future students.
